UTEC completes 7-month
resistivity and CPT contract

Mini CPT and Resistivity system ready for deployment
In late January UTEC demobilised a 100m vessel in Layang Offshore Base,
Singapore. This marked the end of a 7-month contract, which commenced in
southern France during early July 2004, utilising proven mini Cone Penetration
Test (CPT) technology coupled with newly developed towed Resistivity systems.
The systems both performed very well gathering burial assessment survey (BAS)
data down to 1000m over the 11000km of the undersea fibre optic
telecommunications cable route. The survey was reported on in ‘near real-time’
with data combined with geophysical survey data sets within days of acquisition
through UTEC HQ in Lowestoft, UK.
The successful completion of the largest Resistivity and CPT survey undertaken
confirms UTEC’s commitment to innovation and the integration of new technologies
to both the offshore and near shore survey sectors.
